Sochi is a city in the south of Russia, located on the northeastern coast of the Black Sea (the Black Sea coast of Russia) in the Krasnodar Territory, at a distance of 1615 km from Moscow. The administrative center of the municipality is a resort town. Sochi is the largest resort city in Russia and an important transport hub, as well as a major economic and cultural center of the Black Sea coast of Russia. Unofficially, it is also called the summer, southern and resort "capital" of Russia. In 2012, Forbes magazine recognized Sochi as the best city for doing business in the country.

Saint Petersburg is the second most populous city in Russia. A city of federal significance. It was founded in 1703 by Tsar Peter I. Previously it was the capital of the Russian state. It is named after Saint Peter, the patron saint of the founding tsar, but over time it became increasingly associated with the name of Peter I. The city is historically and culturally connected with the birth of the Russian Empire and Russia's entry into modern history as a European great power.
